Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has told his team-mates to ignore the mind games of Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea boss Mourinho has started the mind games with United as both sides battle it out for the title.
The Portuguese tactician has claimed different rules regarding penalties were in operation for his side and United and that United had an unfair advantage over the timing of fixtures.
Mourinho’s outbursts earned an angry riposte from Sir Alex Ferguson on Friday, but experienced campaigner Giggs has called on the players to blank out the psychological warfare
“I’ve learned down the years to block out the title race hype. You have to be mentally strong and not take in what opposition managers and players say.
“It becomes easier to deal with the older and more experienced you get. As one of the senior players I try and pass that on to the younger lads if I can.”
Giggs also insists United should not be worried about performances but results at this stage of the season.
“It’s not always possible to play great football every week, so not playing well and winning can make all the difference, especially at this stage of the season,” added Giggs.
“There is a lot of pressure come April and May and the more tense it gets the less likely you are to have high-scoring wins.
“All the matches will be tight and you need to try and keep your nerve.”
